Dorothy W. Riley was born in 1926, and raised at her grandfather’s stable surrounded by various horses and ponies. Her early experiences with “Tippy” and “Blackie”, her first ponies, developed a lifelong love for equines and riding. Since those early days, numerous ponies and horses have trotted through “Dotty’s” life, and she willingly shared her experience with her children, grandchildren, numerous 4-H members, riding students, and anybody who just wanted to stop by the tack stall and talk about or seek information about horses. In 1987, Dorothy decided to both write and illustrate a coloring book for children in order to share some knowledge about proper pony care. She followed her first coloring book with a second one about pony showing. Both books went out of print in 1995 after sales of over 10,000 copies. After ending her own show career in 2002, Dorothy continued to attend shows with her children and grandchildren, and eventually decided to complete her third coloring book about a magical trip through time to see the history of the horse and pony. Now, Me and My Pony Enterprises is happy to announce the reprinting of “ Me And My Pony, A Proper Guide To Pony Care”, Me And My Pony Go To The Shows”, and the first time printing of “ Me And My Pony, And The Magic Shoes” . All three books are made for the young equestrian in mind, so that they may learn about the ponies and horses that will be a part of their lives, and also have fun coloring, for art is also a big part of Dotty’s life. So to Tippy, Blackie, Pal, Struttin Through, Pied Piper, Bel Ami, Luckey, Sparkling Diane, The Trojan Horse, Ed Mar Ahlfour, Pony Boy, Pizzaz, Rasberry Jam, Grover, Fashion Statement, and all the other horses and ponies that trotted through Dotty’s stable, and to all those that will trot through yours, these books are dedicated. Currently, the author lives at Cuba, N.Y., at her stable ( Seven Gables Stable), in the hills of Western New York. After many years of raising and showing ponies, Saddlebreds, and Arabs, Dorothy’s love for horses and the children who ride them hasn’t diminished.
